Beginnings
Krystaway Dalmatians was established in 1985
when we purchased a black/white bitch, 'Ch
On The Spot Flower Child', Krystal. Like most others she was
bought as a pet as I wanted a dog that would run behind our horses, but
we were encouraged to show her as she was pick of litter. We attended
a show to 'have a look' where we met Paul Aston-Meehan of Dalriant dalmatians
who encouraged us to show. The rest is history, we showed, she won and
continued to win consistently, titled in 15 months which in 1985 was a
major challenge due to the numbers of quality dalmatians that were on the show circuit. Krystal became the namesake and foundation bitch
of our kennels and is behind all our breeding to
date. She passed away in 1999
not quite reaching her 14th birthday.

Location Krystaway is located at Mt Ousley, Wollongong on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. Our dogs love to run and swim on the beach. In winter they follow the horses and run up and down Mt Keira as part their exercise. They are used as jogging partners,running 5km +. Our dals have regularly appeared in newspaper, TV and magazines and are always favourites with the public when on display due to their wonderful temperaments. They are totally trustworthy and we encourage prospective puppy owners who have children. We are very selective in our breeding and avoid using stud dog lines where there are signs of aggressive temperament or major hereditary diseases. We breed both blacks and livers and are currently campaigning both colour dals in the show ring.
I am a Computing Studies/Multimedia teacher, Alex is at Uni. Rob and I are both Non- Sporting ,Gundog and Toy Group Championship status judges, with Terriers and Hounds to Open Show status.We are both active ring Stewards and members of Specialty and All Breeds Clubs. I was President of The Dalmatian Club of NSW Inc 2000-2003, Publicity officer and Committee member of the Non Sporting Dog Club, currently I am Show Secretary of The Dalmatian Club of NSW,Secretary of The Shih Tzu Club of NSW and Secretary, and Show Secretary of Wollongong & District Kennel Club where Rob is President. I am also the Secretary of the National Dalmatian Council. |
